Terrific lesson, highlights differences with major culture A "born-again" Christian and I once had a long conversation about salvation. She ended it by saying, "If I'm right, you'll be in trouble in the next world; if you're right, neither of us will be in trouble in the next world." In this class Rabbi Friedman highlights the Jewish interpretation of human fallibility (what Christians call man's sinful nature) and describes this most important difference between our theologies. To live a righteous life allows one the greatest connection to Hashem. The insights shared in this Torah lesson were profound and significant. It is only by embracing our Humanity and our finitude that will allow us to ever be comfortable with our limited existence. As Hashem accepts our finiteness we must Embrace his Infinity. Our limitation is actually our exaltation. Through the meaninglessness of our life we find the profound meaning of our existence. It is through complexity that we find the ultimate simplicity. It is through paradox that we find certainty. It is through dichotomy that we find unity, the Oneness of God. I can only smile back at you, Hashem!
