Question:
I have read about the Jewish belief in afterlife. What I want to know is: does my beloved father know — even now, since his passing — how deeply I love and miss him, and need him?
And, when I die, will I ever again be able to talk to my beloved parents (or at least have them recognize who I am, so I can communicate with them)? Will we ever meet again, in another form, but one which acknowledges who and what we are to each other?
I really appreciate being able to ask you this — it is upsetting me terribly to imagine never again, in any way, encountering him and my mother.
Answer:
Thanks for your email. Your pain radiates powerfully through your heartfelt words.
As their child, you are spiritually linked with your parents. Even now, your parents live through you, and they remain attached to you. They are very conscious of your thoughts and feelings about them.
But even more importantly, as their child, you have the ability to actually make a real impact on them and their heavenly experience. The way in which you live your own life can be of incredible merit for them. Mitzvot done in their honor, and charity given in their memory beings peace to their souls, and lifts them to greater heights in their heavenly abode.
There is also no question that in the future you will be reunited with them in a tangible way. The Talmud1 derives from a verse in Deuteronomy that the deceased converse with each other. I have no doubt that you will search out your parents when the time comes!
But until that time, I hope that reflecting on the above mentioned ideas brings you a small measure of comfort and solace.

My grandmother died one month ago I really don't know how she died. She had paralysis attack after 10 days she fainted and lost all confidence of walking after three days she came to stay with my mom and dad also she is staying with us before when she had attack but my father had Corona so we have to sent her back as their immune system is low when she came here on 17 April she stopped eating she didn't take her medicine she used to throw when nobody was around she was totally on bed as she lost her confidence eating peeing popping everything was on bed and she never used to tell what she feels. On 20 April she died due to lack of oxygen. After that I'm so scared of every thing mostly darkness she came to my dream thrice idk y but i feel like she wants to communicate but I'm so scared they were nightmares and not dreams. I miss her already but I'm scared to talk or anything
My Dad became ill with cancer and he moved in with me so I could care for him, we would sit and talk about everything, one thing I brought up in our conversation I said to him if you die before me will you come back and let me know your ok and I'd do the same should I die before you.One evening i sat in bed reading then I got out of bed to use the bathroom, when I came out the bathroom there was Dad he walked in front of me.Now he wasnt a solid person and he was wearing the suit he was buried in in a mater of seconds he vanished ,I got back into bed and a stunningly bright orb was gently floating against my bedroom wall, I talked to it and I said Dad I'm fine ,I love you but you must move on dont worry about me, with that this orb suddenly moved fast out the bedroom into the hall and disappeared into the fire alarm on the ceiling ,I often ask Dad to come back but he doesn't.
Shalom…..I know how you feel…I’m so sorry for your loss….I saw my grandmother in a dream after she passed, but I was enjoying spending our time together in the dream. I had lots of anxiety for many years too…for me it was related to other health issues….I wish you only health and happiness….and I truly hope things are feeling better, and if they aren’t….I feel like writing to you because your message sounds just like mine when I have anxiety….I got a miracle for it B”H when my family helped change my diet actually, to a more Keto style, it has to be done very carefully but B”H I felt close to no anxiety since (4 years B”H). One of my great Rabbis says that the first thing people should always do when they have anxious thoughts, even if it is legitimate, like after something sad, is try to change eating or sleeping. The Rabbi said making changes in this area, that work for the body, will help…I truly wish you only happiness love joy and lots of hope in all in life Love, a Jew in Canada
